Overview
MetFilm School Berlin is based at Atelier Gardens (formerly BUFA Studios); Berliner Union-Film GmbH and Co Studio KG. The Berlin Campus is within an iconic film campus overlooking Berlin’s famous Tempelhof Airport. The first studios were built in 1912, and with over 100 years of experience making movies, the site has continued to play an important role in the production of world class media.
Walt Disney’s Emil and the Detectives, Bob Fossey’s Oscar-winning Cabaret, and scenes from The Blue Angel, directed by Josef von Sternberg and starring Mariene Dietrich have been filmed at the studios, as well as one of the first ever horror films, The Golem (1920) by Carl Boese and Paul Wegener.
Today, Atelier Gardens comprises of five film studios, one green screen studio, eleven dubbing studios and two mixing studios. The new campus has been transformed to include a number of sustainability measures, including water recycling and natural ventilation. It is not only home to MetFilm School Berlin, but also to in-house production companies, a camera and lighting rental house, a prop house, a set building company, and post production facilities. The School’s location enables students to experience the atmosphere of a working film studio on a day-to-day basis.
